Antique Small Baroque Snuffbox

Antique small Baroque snuffbox, papier-mâché, primed black and polychrome painted on all sides. The lid is decorated with a peasant scene painted in the style of Old Dutch masters. Floral ornaments adorn the sides, and the base is decorated with a bouquet of roses. The interior of this snuffbox is lined with fine tortoiseshell. Despite the slightly warped lid, this beautiful box closes very tightly. France 1760-1785. Deko not for sale!
