A large, very elegant, almost luxurious antique meerschaum pipe. Presumably France/Alsace, possibly Germany, 1800-1845. An artfully turned, fully detachable pipe stem made of light horn. The meerschaum bowl has a fantastic reddish-brown patina and is fitted with a very elaborately crafted silver fitting. The Latin phrase "In motu quitem" is engraved on the rim of the bowl. Translated, this would roughly mean "calm in motion." We have restored the silver chain to its original length using the remaining fragments found. Absolutely very good and in excellent condition. Deko not for sale!
