Antique meerschaum pipe with silver fittings. The lid's locking lever is elaborately and artistically crafted in the shape of a snake. The meerschaum bowl has a beautiful patina. All silver parts are marked with the Swedish silver hallmark, city mark, and maker's mark. A fine owner's monogram is engraved on the lid, and the year 1865 is inscribed on the tenon fitting. The stem and mouthpiece are made of intricately turned horn with floral carvings. The 230mm long stem is exceptionally well preserved. This pipe was likely made between 1855 and 1865. Typically, pipes of this type had somewhat simpler horn fittings. This antique meerschaum pipe is particularly elaborate and luxurious in its design and craftsmanship. It is in very fine condition.
