A Baroque Snuffbox

A Baroque snuffbox from Iserlohn, made by J. H. Giese in 1754, described as a merchant's box, glorifying seafaring and trade. Despite slight wear from cleaning, this box is something special. It is in excellent condition and bears the Prussian eagle hallmark on its upper rim, a privileged mark indicating duty-free export goods. These hallmarks are no longer found after the beginning of the Seven Years' War. Iserlohn snuffboxes with the Prussian eagle stamp are somewhat rarer on the collectors' market.
