Old snuffbox, papier-mâché, painted black and with a slogan printed in gold: "Weichherzig ist der Deutsche sehr, Den letzten Bissen gibt er her, Das letzte Kleid, Die letzte Wehr, Den letzten Tropfen nimmermehr" ("The German is very soft-hearted, he gives up the last bite, the last dress, the last defense, the last drop nevermore".) Germany 1880-1910. Very nice condition.
