Baroque Vernice Martin Snuffbox

Baroque Vernis Martin ladies snuffbox. France ca. 1770-1780. Paper mache painted in color, the edges are framed with silver fittings. In the middle of the lid there is a portrait of a gentleman in fine gouasch painting under glass. The inside of the snuffbox is lined with red tortoiseshell. These almost very fine and delicate snuffboxes were extremely popular almost exclusively among women in the Rococo era. Very small spot on the bottom of the lid, tightly closing, absolutely very good and wonderful condition. Due to their smaller size, snuffboxes of this type are somewhat rarer to find on the collector's market. Deko not for sale!
