Snuffbox made of bone, carved by a Napoleonic prisoner of war in England, 1807-1815. These types of everyday items were often popular commissions by English officers. The lid relief represents an altar. In the center there is an urn and above the urn is a coat of arms, which was framed on both sides with flags. Maybe this relief should be the "altar of the Fatherland"; due to the frequent use of the snuffbox, this relief is unfortunately somewhat worn, otherwise the snuffbox is still in a beautiful condition.
