Antique baroque snuffbox, German/Dutch between 1680-90 with different engraved dates. Embossed brass and engraved on both sides. The lid date from 1798 was almost certainly added during this time. The massive and flat design, with the baroque base and lid engraving, would not fit into the 1798 era. But it also proves that baroque snuffboxes were passed on to later generations and continued to be used for tobacco storage. Very nice and well maintained overall condition. Deko not for sale!
