Baroque tobacco box

Baroque Iserlohn box by J.H.Giese. Copper and brass, Germany 1760. This box has a rare peculiarity. It bears the rare lid embossing of the surrender of the Austrians in the "Breslau" fortress to the Prussians on December 21st. 1757. The bottom of the snuffbox shows the stamp of the Prussian victory over the Austrians in the Battle of Torgau. The rare thing about this snuffbox is the combination of both motifs. In almost all preserved snuffboxes with the Torgau motif, this always determines the lid motif but never the bottom motif. Very nice overall condition! Deko not for sale!
