Antique snuffbox, papier-mache, painted black. On the lid there is a famous picture after David Wilkie 1785-1841: the injured finger "the cut finger" from 1809. A little boy has injured his finger and is being treated by his grandmother. Probably England/Birmingham Manufactory S. Raven 1810-30. The Stobwasser manufactory had also included the same extremely endearing motif in its collection and had it painted on its snuffboxes. Slight signs of wear, very nice and good condition. Deko not for sale!
